Planning Your Tour

Traveling with Peregrine Travel Group

Shall we be eating as a group for meals?

Most of Peregrine Travel’s tours are escorted private FIT’s (Fully Independent Traveler Tours, this means you are NOT part of a Tour group). This allows you to eat “when you want and with whom you want.”“ If you join one of our Group Tours, then you will eat together as a group. Both our FIT’s and Group Tours are escorted by a English-Spoken Guide, with a Driver and private vehicle.

What is the typical dress while on a Peregrine Travel journey?

Typical dress for any Peregrine Travel Group journey is casual attire. Some journeys may include a specific dinner function or an event in which gentleman may be required to have, or feel more comfortable wearing, a sport jacket. But overall the rule of thumb is casual comfortable clothing. Our final tour documentation will mention occasions (if any) on a journey in which a sport jacket or dressier clothing is suggested.

If I prefer to have a Guide that speaks another language, is that possible?

Yes. We can provide Guides that speak Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian and many other languages. An extra fee will apply which will depend on the language selected.

What is the average group size of a Peregrine Travel journey?

For FIT’s, you will ONLY be traveling with members of your own group. Our Group Tours usually will average 25-35 guests. We try our best not to have groups bigger than this.

What is the age group of the people who take your journeys?

Peregrine Travel journeys are enjoyed by people of all ages. For our Group Tours, we have guests from all ages.

Who leads your journeys?

Our Tour Guides are carefully selected and all have years of experience. They are all professionals licensed by the Chinese Tourist Board not just for their language skills, but all for their knowledge base of the geographic areas they will be working. Our Guides’s wealth of information, friendliness, warmth and enthusiasm earn them the highest praise from our guests.

Are gratuities included?

The customary gratuity to the Peregrine Travel Guide and Driver is not included. Such gratuities should be extended on a voluntary, individual basis. Information about Peregrine Travel Guide and Driver gratuities specific to a destination is included within final tour documentation sent after a reservation has been paid in full.

All appropriate gratuities for luggage handling, bellman, doorman, dining room servers, housekeepers, local city guides, ship and train crew are not included in the price of our tours.

How do you choose your hotels?

The hotels we use are best valued accommodations in great locations, conveniently located, close to key historic and cultural sites. For our Value Tours, we have included the use of some excellent four star hotels in certain cities. We use an extensive list of the best hotels in China , and guests are welcomed to substitute five star hotels where appropriate for additional cost. Please check out the hotels we use in our Hotels section of this web site.

Do the hotels accommodate triples?

Typical room accommodations for triples are two beds and a roll-a-way (for an extra fee). Most all cruise journeys have limited cabin types accommodating triples.

Can I bring a wheelchair?

Wheelchairs can be accommodated on some Peregrine Travel Tours. It is best that you discuss your need with your Travel Agent for your Peregrine Travel Specialist when planning your trip. There are tour itineraries that might require a considerable bit of walking in old historic city sections, in and around attractions, over cobblestone streets, up hills and climbing staircases that make the use of wheelchairs impractical. If you do not want to bring your own wheelchair, we can assist in renting one in China . Persons needing wheelchair assistance must be accompanied by an able companion.
