Q: How do I make my reservation?

Reservations can be made via:

  • Your local travel agent
  • By calling our Reservations Department at 1-888-347-3188. Our hours of operation are Monday–Friday from 9:00am–5:00pm PST.
  • Or by emailing to us with the tour you have selected.

Q: How far in advance do I need to book a vacation?

Peregrine Travel Group suggests booking as far in advance as possible to ensure the best air and hotel availability. Payment in full is required at time of booking for reservations made less than 60 days before departure.

Q: Why does Peregrine Travel Group need a copy of my passport even if they are not doing my visa?

A copy of the pages of your passport containing the following information is needed for us to comply with China’s security requirements: Name (as it appears on your passport), passport number, citizenship and date-of-birth. In addition, your occupation is required for those traveling to Tibet.

Q: Are all prices based on double occupancy?

Yes, all prices are based on double occupancy, however many hotels will accommodate a triple or single. Additional charges may apply.

Q: What are acceptable forms of payment?

Bookings made through Travel Agencies must be paid by Travel Agency Checks. Bookings made by Traveler directly can be paid by Personal Checks, Bank Wire or Credit Card (American Express). The cardholder must be one of the passengers traveling. Checks can be made payable in USD to: Peregrine Travel Inc. Wiring instructions are available upon request. All prices are quoted based on payment by cash, personal check, or wire.

Q: How will I know if my reservation was accepted?

You will receive an invoice by email when all portions are confirmed and the deposit has been received or your credit card processed.

Q: Can I purchase an optional sightseeing tour in advance?

Yes. Peregrine Travel Group offers optional tours that can be purchased in advance or during your tour.

Q: Can I call and ask questions before I make a reservation?

Our reservations department will be happy to answer any question you may have. You can call us or email your questions to us

Q:Do I need a passport or a visa?

Passport is required to travel to China . The passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months beyond the conclusion of your trip. Information for obtaining the Chinese Visa can be found on the Chinese Embassy’s web site:

Q: My trip is paid in full, when can I expect to receive my documents?

Documents are generally sent between 14 and 21 days prior to departure. Documents will be emailed to you at your designated email address.

Q: Why do I have to provide my name as it appears on my passport?

Due to newly introduced security measures, any name change including minor spelling corrections may require airline reservations to be canceled and rebooked. Reservations are subject to availability at the time of rebooking. Once full payment is received, airline tickets will be issued. Subsequent name corrections will be subject to an airline rebooking fee of up to $250 per ticket plus a Peregrine Travel Group $50 revision fee per change. Peregrine Travel Group will not be held responsible for the denial of services by a carrier due to any name discrepancy. Name changes must be advised in writing.

Q: I have received my documents but cannot find my airline tickets, what should I do?

First, make sure your airline ticket is not an e-ticket. If not, then, contact Peregrine Travel Group immediately. Please note that all domestic air tickets in China are now issued in e-ticket.

Q: What does the Travel Insurance cover?

Travel insurance covers many aspects of your vacation from cancellation to medical coverage. It is strongly recommended. Please go to Insurance on our web site for further information.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my trip and I didn’t purchase travel insurance?

Penalties vary depending on how close to departure you are at the time of cancellation and the services you have booked. For more information see Terms and Conditions.

Q: What is the policy on smoking?

Smoking is not allowed on transportation that is exclusively used by Peregrine Travel group. However, when stops are made, passengers are permitted to exit the coach to smoke.

Q: What are the limitations on luggage?

Two pieces of checked baggage totaling 106 inches (the sum of three dimensions, providing neither piece exceeds 62 inches) , are allowed on trans- Cathay Pacific flights. Weight limit per luggage for domestic flights in China is 44 lbs.

Q: Are tips for the tour director included in the tour price?

Tips to your tour escort /guide, and bus drivers are not included in the tour price. Suggested Tipping:

  • Tour Escort /Guide (Offers in-depth information at each city and sightseeing): $6 or $7 per person per day
  • Driver (Provides chauffeur services and limited assistance with luggage): $3 per person per day

Q: What extras will I have to pay for?

Any items of a personal nature such as: phone calls, tips, laundry, beverages and meals not stated in the itinerary, taxi and bus fares, passport and visa fees, etc. Please see Terms and Conditions.

Q: Will our tour guide speak English?

Yes. Our Tour Guides speak fluent English. Unless specially requested, we will always provide English speaking guides for all our tours. We can also provide tour guides who speak Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and other languages.

Q: Does Peregrine Travel Group accepts passengers with disabilities?

Yes, however should you require assistance you must notify Peregrine Travel Group, in writing, when the reservation is made and deposited. Peregrine Travel Group consultants will advise you the options available. For more information see Terms and Conditions.

Q: What is the minimum age for children to travel with Peregrine Travel Group?

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no minimum age for children for our tours except for the VIP tours. Please discuss with our Travel Specialists regarding age limits for our VIP tours.

Q: Can I purchase transpacific air between United States and China from Peregrine Travel Group?

Yes. We can help you make international air travel between United States and China. Please contact our reservation department.

Q: How can my family contact me overseas if there is an emergency?

Your documents will include vouchers for your hotels. Listed on each voucher is the name of your hotel, along with the city and phone number. We suggest leaving a list for your family in case of an emergency.

Q: Do I need a credit card to travel?

Hotels do require a credit card at time of check in for your personal incidentals not covered by the tour prices. If you do not have a credit card you will be asked to leave cash deposit that varies in amount depending upon the hotel.
